General Installation Guidelines
Door latch seal, back cover. Tech Note. On the back cover, door latch side, there is a channel where a felt type material is used as a light seal. This seal does not need replacement as it does not wear out. A foam seal 47mm L x 2mm W x 2mm T has been included in this kit If this seal is missing or damaged. Again only replace this seal if it missing or damaged.
Door channel seals, at door latch end, back cover. Install these seals, latch end of the back cover, above/below the door latch starting 5mm from the edge of the door channel.
Door channel seals, camera body. Install the upper and lower back cover channel seals starting at the hinge side on the camera body, working from right to left. The upper channel has the counter actuation lever. You will need to install this seal as close to each side of the counter lever opening as possible.
Hinge Seal, back cover. Install this starting at the top edge of the back cover, hinge side and work your way down.
The most important and time-consuming work is removing the old seals. Focus on clean, clean, clean. Clean the old residue from the door channels, mirror cushion area, door hinge area and anywhere else you are replacing the seals. The finest adhesive in the world will not adhere to that sticky, gooey residue that was once a quality light seal. Proper installation will give you thousands of light tight exposures.
