Most of these ring parts we’ve purchased have small cosmetic flaw(s) in the ring. This casting flaw is not seen when the lens is assembled. I have noticed those same flaws in the broken rings we removed in lenses assembled by Canon Japan. The flaws cause no loss of structural integrity, as the critical measurement remains accurate. The majority of these rings are replaced on customers equipment because the lens suffered some type of damage from impact, dropping or crushing. Not one customer we ever met wanted to keep using their lens with a crack in this ring.
We wanted you to know about this flaw before purchasing or receiving this part.
