The fit is the same. The first or original cover was engraved with "open", "battery", and a curved arrow. The second style was not engraved.

Please note, this knob fits all Old style K1000 cameras and New Style cameras that use a metal rewind shaft. Old style K1000 cameras have 3 screws on a metal bottom cover, and the battery cover is also made of metal. New style K1000 cameras have 5 screws on the bottom cover. Quality wise these knobs are a value part that works. The knob body is plastic, has brass insert for the rewind shaft :), and a metal rewind handle. Used genuine Pentax replacements are in stock here.
Note the Old style K1000 has 3 screws on the bottom cover, and bottom cover is made of metal as well as the battery cover.
